### sec.40 Scrutiny of non-Queensland laws by portfolio committee
The Legislative Assembly may refer a non-Queensland law to a portfolio committee.
If a non-Queensland law is referred under subsection (1) , the portfolio committee must consider the law and report to the Legislative Assembly about whether the law is not compatible with human rights.
