### sec.55C Reference committee may give commission directions
The reference committee may give the commission directions imposing limitations on the commission’s intelligence operation under an authorisation under section 55A , including limitations on the exercise of the commission’s powers for the operations.
The reference committee may also direct the commission to end a specific intelligence operation under an authorisation if the committee considers—
it may be more appropriate for another entity to undertake the intelligence operation; or
it may be more effective for another entity to undertake the intelligence operation; or
undertaking an intelligence operation is not a justifiable use of the commission’s resources; or
the commission undertaking an intelligence operation is not in the public interest.
The commission must comply with a direction given under subsection (1) or (2) .
The reference committee may amend the terms of an authorisation on its own initiative or if asked by the senior executive officer (crime) or the senior executive officer (corruption).
To remove any doubt, it is declared that subsection (2) (d) is not limited by section 55B (2) .
