### sec.220 Substituted service If an owner of rateable land is known to be absent from the State, the council may serve a document on the owner by serving the document on the owner’s agent in the State. Subsection (3) applies if— the council must serve a document on a person who owns or occupies a property; but the council does not know, or is uncertain about, the person’s current address. The council may serve the document by— publishing a notice that contains a copy of the document on the council’s website; or publishing a notice that contains a summary of the document in— a newspaper that is circulating generally throughout the State; and the gazette. The notice must be addressed to— if the council knows the person’s name—the person by name; or if the council does not know the person’s name—the ‘owner’ or ‘occupier’ at the property’s address. s 220 amd 2023 No. 30 s 20 (sec.220-ssec.1) If an owner of rateable land is known to be absent from the State, the council may serve a document on the owner by serving the document on the owner’s agent in the State.
