### sec.317 How property may be dealt with
This section applies if—
under section 315 , a thing becomes the property of the relevant entity for the thing; or
under section 316 , a thing becomes the property of the State or a local government.
The administrator for the relevant entity, the chief executive or the chief executive officer of the local government (each the relevant administrator ) may deal with the thing as the relevant administrator considers appropriate, including, for example, by destroying it or giving it away.
The relevant administrator must not deal with the thing in a way that could prejudice the outcome of an appeal against the forfeiture under this Act.
If the relevant administrator sells the thing, the administrator may, after deducting the costs of the sale, return the proceeds of the sale to the former owner of the thing.
This section is subject to any disposal order made for the thing.
(sec.317-ssec.1) This section applies if— under section 315 , a thing becomes the property of the relevant entity for the thing; or under section 316 , a thing becomes the property of the State or a local government.
