### sec.740 Functions and powers of authorised officers
An authorised officer has the following functions—
collecting information for this Act;
conducting investigations and inspections to monitor and enforce compliance with—
this Act; or
the Planning Act so far as that Act relates to—
operations of any kind and all things constructed or installed for taking, or interfering with, water under this Act; or
all aspects of development for removing quarry material from a watercourse or lake if an allocation notice is required under this Act;
any other function conferred under this Act.
For performing an authorised officer’s functions under this Act, an authorised officer has the powers given under this or another Act.
An authorised officer is subject to the directions of the appointor in exercising the powers.
The powers of an authorised officer may be limited—
under a regulation; or
under a condition of appointment; or
by notice of the appointor given to the authorised officer.

(sec.740-ssec.1) An authorised officer has the following functions— collecting information for this Act; conducting investigations and inspections to monitor and enforce compliance with— this Act; or the Planning Act so far as that Act relates to— operations of any kind and all things constructed or installed for taking, or interfering with, water under this Act; or all aspects of development for removing quarry material from a watercourse or lake if an allocation notice is required under this Act; any other function conferred under this Act.
(sec.740-ssec.2) For performing an authorised officer’s functions under this Act, an authorised officer has the powers given under this or another Act.
(sec.740-ssec.3) An authorised officer is subject to the directions of the appointor in exercising the powers.

- (A) operations of any kind and all things constructed or installed for taking, or interfering with, water under this Act; or
- (B) all aspects of development for removing quarry material from a watercourse or lake if an allocation notice is required under this Act;
- (c) any other function conferred under this Act.
- (i) this Act; or
- (ii) the Planning Act so far as that Act relates to— (A) operations of any kind and all things constructed or installed for taking, or interfering with, water under this Act; or (B) all aspects of development for removing quarry material from a watercourse or lake if an allocation notice is required under this Act;
- (A) operations of any kind and all things constructed or installed for taking, or interfering with, water under this Act; or
- (B) all aspects of development for removing quarry material from a watercourse or lake if an allocation notice is required under this Act;
- (A) operations of any kind and all things constructed or installed for taking, or interfering with, water under this Act; or
- (B) all aspects of development for removing quarry material from a watercourse or lake if an allocation notice is required under this Act;
- (a) under a regulation; or
- (b) under a condition of appointment; or
- (c) by notice of the appointor given to the authorised officer.
