### sec.676 Minister’s power to give directions in public interest
The Minister may give a water authority a written direction if the Minister is satisfied it is necessary to give the direction in the public interest because of exceptional circumstances.
The water authority must comply with the direction.
Before giving the direction, the Minister must—
consult with the water authority; and
ask the authority to advise whether, in its opinion, complying with the direction would not be in its financial interest.
The Minister must gazette a copy of the direction within 15 business days after it is given.
(sec.676-ssec.1) The Minister may give a water authority a written direction if the Minister is satisfied it is necessary to give the direction in the public interest because of exceptional circumstances.
(sec.676-ssec.2) The water authority must comply with the direction.
(sec.676-ssec.3) Before giving the direction, the Minister must— consult with the water authority; and ask the authority to advise whether, in its opinion, complying with the direction would not be in its financial interest.
(sec.676-ssec.4) The Minister must gazette a copy of the direction within 15 business days after it is given.
