### sec.7 Health care worker not to initiate discussion about voluntary assisted dying
A health care worker must not, in the course of providing a health service or personal care service to a person—
initiate discussion with the person that is in substance about voluntary assisted dying; or
in substance, suggest voluntary assisted dying to the person.
However, despite subsection (1) , a medical practitioner or nurse practitioner may do a thing mentioned in subsection (1) (a) or (b) if, at the same time, the practitioner also informs the person about—
the treatment options available to the person and the likely outcomes of that treatment; and
the palliative care and treatment options available to the person and the likely outcomes of that care and treatment.
Nothing in subsection (1) prevents a health care worker from providing information about voluntary assisted dying to a person at the person’s request.
In this section—
health care worker means—
a registered health practitioner; or
another person who provides a health service or personal care service.
(sec.7-ssec.1) A health care worker must not, in the course of providing a health service or personal care service to a person— initiate discussion with the person that is in substance about voluntary assisted dying; or in substance, suggest voluntary assisted dying to the person.

(sec.7-ssec.3) Nothing in subsection (1) prevents a health care worker from providing information about voluntary assisted dying to a person at the person’s request.
(sec.7-ssec.4) In this section— health care worker means— a registered health practitioner; or another person who provides a health service or personal care service.
- (a) initiate discussion with the person that is in substance about voluntary assisted dying; or
- (b) in substance, suggest voluntary assisted dying to the person.
- (a) the treatment options available to the person and the likely outcomes of that treatment; and
- (b) the palliative care and treatment options available to the person and the likely outcomes of that care and treatment.
- (a) a registered health practitioner; or
- (b) another person who provides a health service or personal care service.
