### sec.98 Deciding application for interim assistance
The government assessor may grant the person assistance of up to $6,000 ( interim assistance ) for urgent or immediate expenses incurred, or reasonably likely to be incurred, by the person if the assessor is reasonably satisfied it is necessary for the person to incur the expenses before the general application is decided.
The government assessor must impose a condition on the grant of interim assistance that, if the person receives a relevant payment for the act of violence before the general application is decided, the applicant must give the scheme manager written or oral notice of the payment within 28 days after receiving it.
Failure to comply with the condition imposed under subsection (2) is an offence—see section 141B .
Under section 89 (2) , a similar condition is required to be imposed if the government assessor grants the applicant assistance.
The government assessor may impose other conditions on the grant of interim assistance.
Section 88 does not apply to deciding an application for interim assistance.
