### sec.61 Lapse of application if no contact
This section applies if an applicant for assistance has not made any contact with the government assessor dealing with the application for 6 months.
The government assessor may give the applicant a notice stating that if the applicant does not contact the government assessor within 6 months after the notice is given, the application will lapse under subsection (4) .
The notice must be sent to the address stated in the application for assistance or, if the applicant has given the government assessor another address for service of notices, the other address.
If the applicant is given a notice under this section and the applicant does not contact the government assessor within 6 months after the notice is given, the applicant’s application for assistance lapses.
The lapsing of an application under this section does not prevent the applicant making another application for assistance under this chapter.
See section 54 (for victim assistance) or 58 (for funeral expense assistance) for the time within which the application must be made.
For this section, contact with the government assessor dealing with the application includes—
contact with the scheme manager; and
contact with another government assessor acting for the government assessor dealing with the application.
(sec.61-ssec.1) This section applies if an applicant for assistance has not made any contact with the government assessor dealing with the application for 6 months.
