### sec.174 Deciding component of assistance after reduction under s 172 or 173
This section applies if, in relation to a single act of violence—
the victim assistance payable to the person is reduced under section 172(2) or 173(2)(b), or both of those provisions; and
an amount of victim assistance remains payable to the person after the reduction.
The government assessor must—
decide the component of victim assistance for which the amount is payable, having regard to—
the person’s needs; and
whether the person has incurred any expenses; and
anything else the government assessor considers relevant; and
give the person a notice stating—
the decision; and
the reasons for the decision; and
