### sec.171 Personal offences in the series constitute single act of violence
For applying chapter 3 to an application mentioned in section 170(1)(c)—
the personal offences in the series of related offences are taken to be a single act of violence; and
assistance may be granted to the person only for the single act of violence.
Without limiting subsection (1), if a person makes 2 or more applications as mentioned in section 170(1)(c), sections 70 and 83(4) apply in relation to the applications—
as if a reference in the sections to a series of related crimes included a reference to a series of related offences within the meaning of section 170(2); and
even if 1 or more of the applications were made under this part and 1 or more of the applications were made under chapter 3.
(sec.171-ssec.1) For applying chapter 3 to an application mentioned in section 170(1)(c)— the personal offences in the series of related offences are taken to be a single act of violence; and assistance may be granted to the person only for the single act of violence.
(sec.171-ssec.2) Without limiting subsection (1), if a person makes 2 or more applications as mentioned in section 170(1)(c), sections 70 and 83(4) apply in relation to the applications— as if a reference in the sections to a series of related crimes included a reference to a series of related offences within the meaning of section 170(2); and even if 1 or more of the applications were made under this part and 1 or more of the applications were made under chapter 3.
- (a) the personal offences in the series of related offences are taken to be a single act of violence; and
- (b) assistance may be granted to the person only for the single act of violence.
- (a) as if a reference in the sections to a series of related crimes included a reference to a series of related offences within the meaning of section 170(2); and
- (b) even if 1 or more of the applications were made under this part and 1 or more of the applications were made under chapter 3.
