### sec.31 Deputy chancellor
There is a deputy chancellor of the university.
The council must elect a member as deputy chancellor whenever there is a vacancy in the office.
The deputy chancellor holds office for the term, not longer than 4 years, fixed by the council.
The deputy chancellor is to act as chancellor—
during a vacancy in the office of chancellor; and
during all periods when the chancellor is absent from duty or, for another reason, can not perform the functions of the office.

(sec.31-ssec.1) There is a deputy chancellor of the university.
(sec.31-ssec.2) The council must elect a member as deputy chancellor whenever there is a vacancy in the office.
