### sec.156 Duties when transporting dangerous goods
A person involved in transporting dangerous goods must ensure, as far as is practicable, that the goods are transported safely.
If a person involved in transporting dangerous goods contravenes this Act in circumstances where the person knew, or ought reasonably to have known, that the contravention would be likely to endanger the safety of another person or of property or the environment, the person commits an offence.
Maximum penalty—
if the contravention results in death or grievous bodily harm to a person—1,000 penalty units or 2 years imprisonment; or
otherwise—500 penalty units or 1 year’s imprisonment.
If a corporation commits an offence against this provision, an executive officer of the corporation may be taken, under section 57 , to have also committed the offence.
This section is in addition to and does not limit any other provision of this Act.
