### sec.100 Things to be done before power to intervene is exercised
Before exercising the power of intervention under section 98 , the general manager must—
to the greatest extent practicable, ensure the exercise of the power will not involve a threat to human life; and
have regard to Australia’s obligations under the Intervention Convention; and
consult with the Australian Maritime Safety Authority; and
consult with the relevant ship’s owner.
Subsection (1) (b) , (c) and (d) does not apply if, in the general manager’s opinion, power to intervene must be exercised urgently.

(sec.100-ssec.1) Before exercising the power of intervention under section 98 , the general manager must— to the greatest extent practicable, ensure the exercise of the power will not involve a threat to human life; and have regard to Australia’s obligations under the Intervention Convention; and consult with the Australian Maritime Safety Authority; and consult with the relevant ship’s owner.
