### sec.9F Number of trainees to a law practice or an office other than the office of a law practice
If a law practice is a sole practitioner who is eligible to supervise a trainee, the law practice may have the greater of the following—
2 trainees at a time for the sole practitioner;
1 trainee at a time for each person, eligible to supervise a trainee, working in the law practice.
If a law practice is a law firm, the law practice may have the greater of the following—
2 trainees at a time for each partner in the law firm who is eligible to supervise a trainee;
1 trainee at a time for each person, eligible to supervise a trainee, working in the law practice.
A law practice, or an office other than the office of a law practice, that is not provided for in subrule (1) or (2) may have 1 trainee at a time for each person, eligible to supervise a trainee, working in the law practice or office.
If a law firm has 4 partners, and 2 employed solicitors, who are eligible to supervise a trainee, the law firm may have no more than 8 trainees at a time.
If a law firm has 2 partners, and 5 employed solicitors, who are eligible to supervise a trainee, the law firm may have no more than 7 trainees at a time.
A supervisor may be responsible for the supervision of no more than 2 trainees at a time.
However, the board may, if it considers there are special circumstances—
allow a law practice, or an office other than the office of a law practice, to have more trainees than the law practice or office is allowed to have under subrules (1) to (3) ; or
allow a person to supervise more than 2 trainees at a time.

(sec.9F-ssec.2) If a law practice is a law firm, the law practice may have the greater of the following— 2 trainees at a time for each partner in the law firm who is eligible to supervise a trainee; 1 trainee at a time for each person, eligible to supervise a trainee, working in the law practice.
(sec.9F-ssec.3) A law practice, or an office other than the office of a law practice, that is not provided for in subrule (1) or (2) may have 1 trainee at a time for each person, eligible to supervise a trainee, working in the law practice or office. If a law firm has 4 partners, and 2 employed solicitors, who are eligible to supervise a trainee, the law firm may have no more than 8 trainees at a time. - (b) allow a person to supervise more than 2 trainees at a time.
