### sec.18 Deputy chairperson The responsible Ministers may appoint 1 of the members of the board as its deputy chairperson. Subject to section 19 , the deputy chairperson holds office for the term, ending not later than his or her term of appointment as a member, stated in his or her appointment as deputy chairperson. The deputy chairperson is to act as chairperson— during a vacancy in the office of chairperson; and during all periods when the chairperson is absent from duty or is, for another reason, unable to perform the functions of the office. s 18 amd 2012 No. 39 s 102 sch pt 2 (sec.18-ssec.1) The responsible Ministers may appoint 1 of the members of the board as its deputy chairperson.
