### sec.53BE What is a road and a State-controlled road A road is any of the following other than to the extent it is, or includes, a public thoroughfare easement— an area of land dedicated to public use as a road; an area that is open to or used by the public and is developed for, or has as 1 of its main uses, the driving or riding of motor vehicles; a bridge, culvert, ferry, ford, tunnel or viaduct; a pedestrian or bicycle path; a part of an area, bridge, culvert, ferry, ford, tunnel, viaduct or path mentioned in paragraphs (a) to (d) .
