### sec.12 Inquiries about person’s appropriateness to hold licence
The chief executive may make inquiries about a person to assist in deciding whether the person—
is an appropriate person for the grant of the licence; or
continues to be an appropriate person.
Without limiting subsection (1) , the chief executive may ask the Commissioner to give the chief executive the following written information about the person—
a report about the person’s criminal history;
a brief description of the nature of the offence giving rise to a conviction or charge mentioned in the person’s criminal history.
Subject to subsection (4) , the Commissioner must comply with a request made under subsection (2) .
The duty imposed on the Commissioner to comply with the request applies only to information in the Commissioner’s possession or to which the Commissioner has access.
If the person is, or has been, subject to a control order or registered corresponding control order, the report must—
state the details of the order; or
be accompanied by a copy of the order.
In this section—
offence includes alleged offence.

(sec.12-ssec.1) The chief executive may make inquiries about a person to assist in deciding whether the person— is an appropriate person for the grant of the licence; or continues to be an appropriate person.
(sec.12-ssec.2) Without limiting subsection (1) , the chief executive may ask the Commissioner to give the chief executive the following written information about the person— a report about the person’s criminal history; a brief description of the nature of the offence giving rise to a conviction or charge mentioned in the person’s criminal history.
(sec.12-ssec.3) Subject to subsection (4) , the Commissioner must comply with a request made under subsection (2) .

- (a) is an appropriate person for the grant of the licence; or
- (b) continues to be an appropriate person.
- (a) a report about the person’s criminal history;
- (b) a brief description of the nature of the offence giving rise to a conviction or charge mentioned in the person’s criminal history.

- (b) be accompanied by a copy of the order.
