### sec.57D Verification of identity for application
A prospective tenant may give identity documents to a lessor or lessor’s agent to verify the prospective tenant’s identity by—
giving a copy of the original identity document; or
allowing the lessor or lessor’s agent to access or sight the original identity document.
If a document is accessed or sighted by the lessor or lessor’s agent under subsection (1) (b) , the lessor or lessor’s agent must not keep a copy of the original identity document without the prospective tenant’s consent.
Maximum penalty—20 penalty units.
