### sec.256B Keeping pets and other animals in resident’s rooms
The resident may keep a pet or other animal in the resident’s room only with the approval of the provider.
However, the resident may keep a working dog in the resident’s room without the provider’s approval.
An authorisation to keep a pet, working dog or other animal in a resident’s room is subject to a body corporate by-law, house rules or other law relating to keeping animals at the rental premises.
The rental premises may be subject to a local law that limits the number or types of animals that may be kept at the premises.
The rental premises may be subject to a body corporate by-law that requires the resident obtain approval from the body corporate before keeping a pet at the premises.
