### sec.39 Membership
The council consists of the number of persons appointed by the Minister that the Minister considers appropriate.
In making an appointment the Minister must ensure—
the membership of the council reflects the diversity of the Queensland community; and
that members have appropriate skills, knowledge or experience, for example, skills, knowledge or experience of mental health and substance misuse issues in relation to the following—
service users and their families, carers, and support persons;
service providers;
people living in remote and regional communities;
members of culturally and linguistically diverse communities;
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander persons.
Members are to—
hold office for the term, not longer than 3 years, stated in the member’s instrument of appointment; and
be paid the fees and allowances decided by the Governor in Council.
