### sec.8AZ Grounds for exercise of power
An emergency situation officer may exercise an extraordinary emergency power stated in the extraordinary emergency authorisation only if—
for a power under section 8AZA (2) —the officer is satisfied that giving a person a direction under that section is necessary—
for the safety of the person or another person; or
to effectively manage the evacuation of the person; or
to effectively receive, identify or assess the person; or
otherwise, to effectively deal with the emergency situation; or
for a power under a section other than section 8AZA (2) —the officer is satisfied the exercise of the power is necessary to effectively deal with the emergency situation.
An emergency situation officer exercising an extraordinary emergency power may use the force that is reasonably necessary.

(sec.8AZ-ssec.1) An emergency situation officer may exercise an extraordinary emergency power stated in the extraordinary emergency authorisation only if— for a power under section 8AZA (2) —the officer is satisfied that giving a person a direction under that section is necessary— for the safety of the person or another person; or to effectively manage the evacuation of the person; or to effectively receive, identify or assess the person; or otherwise, to effectively deal with the emergency situation; or for a power under a section other than section 8AZA (2) —the officer is satisfied the exercise of the power is necessary to effectively deal with the emergency situation.
(sec.8AZ-ssec.2) An emergency situation officer exercising an extraordinary emergency power may use the force that is reasonably necessary.
- (a) for a power under section 8AZA (2) —the officer is satisfied that giving a person a direction under that section is necessary— (i) for the safety of the person or another person; or (ii) to effectively manage the evacuation of the person; or (iii) to effectively receive, identify or assess the person; or (iv) otherwise, to effectively deal with the emergency situation; or
- (i) for the safety of the person or another person; or
- (ii) to effectively manage the evacuation of the person; or
- (iii) to effectively receive, identify or assess the person; or
- (iv) otherwise, to effectively deal with the emergency situation; or
- (b) for a power under a section other than section 8AZA (2) —the officer is satisfied the exercise of the power is necessary to effectively deal with the emergency situation.
- (i) for the safety of the person or another person; or
- (ii) to effectively manage the evacuation of the person; or
- (iii) to effectively receive, identify or assess the person; or
- (iv) otherwise, to effectively deal with the emergency situation; or
