### sec.47 Making archives appraisal statement The archivist may make a document (an archives appraisal statement ) stating criteria for identifying public records appropriate for retention in the custody of the archives. An archives appraisal statement takes effect— on the day it is published on the archives website; or if a later day is stated in the statement—on the later day.
