### sec.144 Effect of assignment of lease by transferee to subsequent transferee This section applies in relation to a lease of land if— the lessee assigns the lease to another person (the assignee ); and after the assignment of the lease, the assignee assigns the lease to another person (the subsequent assignee ). The lessee, and any guarantor of the lessee, is released from liability to the lessor for a breach of the lease by the subsequent assignee. Subsection (2) applies despite any agreement to the contrary. (sec.144-ssec.1) This section applies in relation to a lease of land if— the lessee assigns the lease to another person (the assignee ); and after the assignment of the lease, the assignee assigns the lease to another person (the subsequent assignee ).
