### sec.53BJ Offence to contravene direction
A person must not, without reasonable excuse, contravene a direction given by a police officer under section 53BG (2) .
Maximum penalty—
if the person contravenes the direction by doing any of the following—
unlawfully assaulting, or threatening to assault, another person;
unlawfully destroying or damaging, or threatening to destroy or damage, property;
throwing, releasing or placing a thing in a way that endangers, or is likely to endanger, the life, health or safety of another person;
penalty units or 3 years imprisonment; or
otherwise—110 penalty units or 1 year’s imprisonment.

- (a) if the person contravenes the direction by doing any of the following— (i) unlawfully assaulting, or threatening to assault, another person; (ii) unlawfully destroying or damaging, or threatening to destroy or damage, property; (iii) throwing, releasing or placing a thing in a way that endangers, or is likely to endanger, the life, health or safety of another person; 165 penalty units or 3 years imprisonment; or
- (i) unlawfully assaulting, or threatening to assault, another person;
- (ii) unlawfully destroying or damaging, or threatening to destroy or damage, property;
- (iii) throwing, releasing or placing a thing in a way that endangers, or is likely to endanger, the life, health or safety of another person;
- 165 penalty units or 3 years imprisonment; or
- (b) otherwise—110 penalty units or 1 year’s imprisonment.
- (i) unlawfully assaulting, or threatening to assault, another person;
- (ii) unlawfully destroying or damaging, or threatening to destroy or damage, property;
- (iii) throwing, releasing or placing a thing in a way that endangers, or is likely to endanger, the life, health or safety of another person;
- 165 penalty units or 3 years imprisonment; or
