### sec.293 Restriction about records and access to application for authority to create birth certificate
This section applies to—
a proceeding on an application under section 289 for a birth certificate approval in relation to the acquisition or use of an assumed identity under a corresponding authority; and
an order given in the proceeding.
Despite the Recording of Evidence Act 1962 , a transcript of the proceeding must not be made.
A person must not publish a report of the proceeding.
Maximum penalty—85 penalty units or 1 year’s imprisonment.
A person is not entitled to search information in the custody of a court in relation to the proceeding, unless a Supreme Court judge otherwise orders in the interests of justice.
