### sec.776 Requirement to give notice
The inspector or authorised officer must immediately give a notice of the damage to the person who appears to the inspector or officer to be the owner or person in possession or control of the thing.
However, if for any reason it is not practicable to comply with subsection (1) , the inspector or officer must—
leave the notice at the place where the damage happened; and
ensure it is left in a conspicuous position and in a reasonably secure way.
The inspector or officer may delay complying with subsection (1) or (2) if the inspector or officer reasonably suspects complying with the subsection may frustrate or otherwise hinder an investigation by the inspector or officer.
The delay may be only for so long as the inspector or officer continues to have the reasonable suspicion and remains in the vicinity of the place.
