### sec.575 Requirements for surrendering another type of petroleum authority
The holder of a petroleum authority, other than an authority to prospect, may surrender all or part of the area of the authority only if, under this part—
an application has been made for approval of the surrender; and
the surrender has been approved.
In this section—
surrender , for a petroleum authority, does not include a relinquishment of an area if the relinquishment is required or authorised under—
section 148 ; or
a relinquishment condition for the authority; or
a relinquishment requirement under section 791 .

(sec.575-ssec.1) The holder of a petroleum authority, other than an authority to prospect, may surrender all or part of the area of the authority only if, under this part— an application has been made for approval of the surrender; and the surrender has been approved.
(sec.575-ssec.2) In this section— surrender , for a petroleum authority, does not include a relinquishment of an area if the relinquishment is required or authorised under— section 148 ; or a relinquishment condition for the authority; or a relinquishment requirement under section 791 .
