### sec.31 Examination under oath or affirmation
The Assembly or an authorised committee before which a person attends may require the person to answer questions under oath or affirmation.
The oath or affirmation must be administered by—
if the person attends before the Assembly—the Speaker or the Clerk; or
if the person attends before an authorised committee—the committee’s chairperson or the Clerk, or Clerk’s delegate, attending the committee.
A person must not fail to be sworn or to make an affirmation if required under subsection (1) .
A person may be excused from a failure mentioned in subsection (3) —
if attending before the authorised committee—by the committee; or
in any case—by the Assembly.
(sec.31-ssec.1) The Assembly or an authorised committee before which a person attends may require the person to answer questions under oath or affirmation.
