### sec.31 Power of court if noncompliance with investigation requirement
This section applies if, without reasonable excuse, a person fails to comply with an investigation requirement.
A Magistrates Court, at the request of the ombudsman, may issue a subpoena requiring the attendance of the person before the ombudsman.
The Uniform Civil Procedure Rules 1999 , other than rules 417 , 418 and 420 , apply to the subpoena.

In this section—
subpoena means—
a subpoena for production; or
a subpoena to give evidence; or
a subpoena for production and to give evidence.

(sec.31-ssec.1) This section applies if, without reasonable excuse, a person fails to comply with an investigation requirement.
(sec.31-ssec.2) A Magistrates Court, at the request of the ombudsman, may issue a subpoena requiring the attendance of the person before the ombudsman.
(sec.31-ssec.3) The Uniform Civil Procedure Rules 1999 , other than rules 417 , 418 and 420 , apply to the subpoena. See the Uniform Civil Procedure Rules 1999 , chapter 11 , part 4 .
(sec.31-ssec.4) In this section— subpoena means— a subpoena for production; or a subpoena to give evidence; or a subpoena for production and to give evidence.
- (a) a subpoena for production; or
- (b) a subpoena to give evidence; or
- (c) a subpoena for production and to give evidence.
