### sec.56 Notice to defendant of payments made
A person who makes a payment in compliance with an attachment of earnings order shall give to the defendant a notice specifying particulars of the payment.
Where a person on whom an attachment of earnings order that is directed to the person is served—
is not the defendant’s employer at the time when the order is served on that person; or
is the defendant’s employer at that time but ceases to be the defendant’s employer at any time thereafter;
that person shall give notice in writing accordingly to the clerk of the court that made the order, and shall give that notice—
where paragraph (a) applies—forthwith after service on that person of the order; or
where paragraph (b) applies—forthwith after that person ceases to be the defendant’s employer.

(sec.56-ssec.2) Where a person on whom an attachment of earnings order that is directed to the person is served— is not the defendant’s employer at the time when the order is served on that person; or is the defendant’s employer at that time but ceases to be the defendant’s employer at any time thereafter; that person shall give notice in writing accordingly to the clerk of the court that made the order, and shall give that notice— where paragraph (a) applies—forthwith after service on that person of the order; or where paragraph (b) applies—forthwith after that person ceases to be the defendant’s employer.
- (a) is not the defendant’s employer at the time when the order is served on that person; or
- (b) is the defendant’s employer at that time but ceases to be the defendant’s employer at any time thereafter;
- (c) where paragraph (a) applies—forthwith after service on that person of the order; or
- (d) where paragraph (b) applies—forthwith after that person ceases to be the defendant’s employer.
