### sec.296A Period for keeping and making available particular registers of interests
A local government must keep a register of interests for a period of 10 years starting on—
for a councillor or a person who is related to a councillor—the last day the councillor holds office as a councillor; or
for the chief executive officer or a person who is related to the chief executive officer—the last day the chief executive officer holds appointment as the chief executive officer; or
for a councillor advisor or a person who is related to a councillor advisor—the last day the councillor advisor holds appointment as a councillor advisor; or
for a senior executive employee or a person who is related to a senior executive employee—the last day the senior executive employee holds appointment as a senior executive employee.
A local government must ensure the register of interests kept under subsection (1) (a) for a person who was, but is no longer, a councillor is available to be viewed by the public at the local government’s public office for the period the local government is required to keep the register.

(sec.296A-ssec.2) A local government must ensure the register of interests kept under subsection (1) (a) for a person who was, but is no longer, a councillor is available to be viewed by the public at the local government’s public office for the period the local government is required to keep the register.
- (a) for a councillor or a person who is related to a councillor—the last day the councillor holds office as a councillor; or
- (b) for the chief executive officer or a person who is related to the chief executive officer—the last day the chief executive officer holds appointment as the chief executive officer; or
- (c) for a councillor advisor or a person who is related to a councillor advisor—the last day the councillor advisor holds appointment as a councillor advisor; or
- (d) for a senior executive employee or a person who is related to a senior executive employee—the last day the senior executive employee holds appointment as a senior executive employee.
