### sec.178 Financial sustainability statements
A local government’s current-year financial sustainability statement must state each measure of financial sustainability applicable to the local government for the financial year to which the statement relates.
A local government’s long-term financial sustainability statement must state—
each measure of financial sustainability applicable to the local government for the 9 financial years following the year to which the statement relates; and
an explanation of the local government’s financial management strategy that is consistent with the long-term financial forecast.
For subsections (1) and (2) (a) , a measure of financial sustainability applies to a local government for a financial year to the extent the financial management (sustainability) guideline states the measure applies to the local government for the financial year.

(sec.178-ssec.1) A local government’s current-year financial sustainability statement must state each measure of financial sustainability applicable to the local government for the financial year to which the statement relates.
(sec.178-ssec.2) A local government’s long-term financial sustainability statement must state— each measure of financial sustainability applicable to the local government for the 9 financial years following the year to which the statement relates; and an explanation of the local government’s financial management strategy that is consistent with the long-term financial forecast.
(sec.178-ssec.3) For subsections (1) and (2) (a) , a measure of financial sustainability applies to a local government for a financial year to the extent the financial management (sustainability) guideline states the measure applies to the local government for the financial year.
- (a) each measure of financial sustainability applicable to the local government for the 9 financial years following the year to which the statement relates; and
- (b) an explanation of the local government’s financial management strategy that is consistent with the long-term financial forecast.
