### sec.262 Powers in support of responsibilities
This section applies if a local government is required or empowered to perform a responsibility under a Local Government Act .
The local government has the power to do anything that is necessary or convenient for performing the responsibilities.
The powers include all the powers that an individual may exercise, including for example—
power to enter into contracts; and
power to acquire, hold, deal with and dispose of property; and
power to charge for a service or facility, other than a service or facility for which a cost-recovery fee may be fixed.

(sec.262-ssec.1) This section applies if a local government is required or empowered to perform a responsibility under a Local Government Act .
(sec.262-ssec.2) The local government has the power to do anything that is necessary or convenient for performing the responsibilities.
