165A Proceedings for offences
> > (1) Proceedings for—
> >
> > > (a) an offence against this Act or the local regulations, or
> >
> > > (b) an offence referred to in section 451(1) of the [Legal Profession Uniform Law (NSW)](/view/html/inforce/current/act-2014-16a) against that Law (except an offence against section 148 or 353 of that Law),
> >
> > are to be dealt with summarily before the Local Court.
>
> > (2) Chapter 5 of the [Criminal Procedure Act 1986](/view/html/inforce/current/act-1986-209) (which relates to the summary disposal of certain indictable offences unless an election is made to proceed on indictment) applies to and in respect of an offence under section 148 (Deficiency in trust account) or section 353 (Improperly destroying property etc) of the [Legal Profession Uniform Law (NSW)](/view/html/inforce/current/act-2014-16a).

> > (3) Proceedings for an offence may be brought at any time within 12 months after the date of the alleged offence.
