### sec.71 Notice about refusing to deal, or deferring dealing, with complaint
If the commissioner refuses to deal, or to continue to deal, with a human rights complaint or defers dealing with a complaint, the commissioner must give the complainant and respondent notice of the refusal or deferral and the reasons for the refusal or deferral.
However, the commissioner need not give the notice to the respondent if the commissioner considers it is not appropriate in the circumstances to do so.
The respondent is not aware of the complaint or has not been contacted by the commissioner in relation to the complaint.
(sec.71-ssec.1) If the commissioner refuses to deal, or to continue to deal, with a human rights complaint or defers dealing with a complaint, the commissioner must give the complainant and respondent notice of the refusal or deferral and the reasons for the refusal or deferral.
(sec.71-ssec.2) However, the commissioner need not give the notice to the respondent if the commissioner considers it is not appropriate in the circumstances to do so. The respondent is not aware of the complaint or has not been contacted by the commissioner in relation to the complaint.
