### sec.579 Restoring damaged thing
This section applies if—
an authorised officer damages something when exercising, or purporting to exercise, a power under this Law and the damage was caused by an improper or unreasonable exercise of the power or the use of unauthorised force; or
a person (the assistant ) acting under the direction or authority of an authorised officer damages something and the damage was caused by an improper or unreasonable exercise of a power or the use of unauthorised force.
The authorised officer must exercise reasonable diligence to restore the thing to the condition it was in immediately before the officer exercised the power, or the assistant took action under the officer’s direction or authority.
