### sec.325A Appointment and qualifications
The commissioner may appoint a person as an inspector.
However, a person may be appointed as an inspector only if—
the person is—
a public service officer or public service employee; or
a member of a class of persons prescribed under a regulation; and
the commissioner is satisfied the person is qualified for the appointment because—
the person has the necessary expertise or experience; or
the commissioner considers the person has the ability to quickly acquire the necessary expertise; and
the commissioner is satisfied the person is a suitable person to be an inspector, having regard to—
the person’s character; and
the person’s current financial position and financial background; and
any other matter the commissioner considers relevant to the person’s suitability to be an inspector.

(sec.325A-ssec.1) The commissioner may appoint a person as an inspector.
(sec.325A-ssec.2) However, a person may be appointed as an inspector only if— the person is— a public service officer or public service employee; or a member of a class of persons prescribed under a regulation; and the commissioner is satisfied the person is qualified for the appointment because— the person has the necessary expertise or experience; or the commissioner considers the person has the ability to quickly acquire the necessary expertise; and the commissioner is satisfied the person is a suitable person to be an inspector, having regard to— the person’s character; and the person’s current financial position and financial background; and any other matter the commissioner considers relevant to the person’s suitability to be an inspector.
- (a) the person is— (i) a public service officer or public service employee; or (ii) a member of a class of persons prescribed under a regulation; and
- (i) a public service officer or public service employee; or
- (ii) a member of a class of persons prescribed under a regulation; and
- (b) the commissioner is satisfied the person is qualified for the appointment because— (i) the person has the necessary expertise or experience; or (ii) the commissioner considers the person has the ability to quickly acquire the necessary expertise; and
- (i) the person has the necessary expertise or experience; or
- (ii) the commissioner considers the person has the ability to quickly acquire the necessary expertise; and
- (c) the commissioner is satisfied the person is a suitable person to be an inspector, having regard to— (i) the person’s character; and (ii) the person’s current financial position and financial background; and (iii) any other matter the commissioner considers relevant to the person’s suitability to be an inspector.
- (i) the person’s character; and
