### sec.242 Continuing effect of existing approvals for waterway barrier works
This section applies to an approval to build or raise a waterway barrier works—
given under the unamended Act before the commencement of this section; and
in force immediately before the commencement.
From the commencement, the approval has effect as if—
the approval were a development permit for operational works, for which the chief executive was the assessment manager; and
any direction given, under section 116 of the unamended Act , in relation to the approval were a condition of the development permit; and
the currency period for the development permit started on the day the approval was given and ends on the day 2 years after the approval was given.
