### sec.445 Appointment of authorised persons
The chief executive may appoint any of the following persons to be an authorised person—
an appropriately qualified public service officer;
an employee of the department;
a person included in a class of persons declared by regulation to be an approved class of persons for this section.
If the administration and enforcement of a matter is devolved to a local government, the local government’s chief executive officer may appoint an employee of the local government to be an authorised person.
A person may be appointed to be an authorised person only if, in the opinion of the chief executive or local government’s chief executive officer, the person has the necessary expertise or experience to be an authorised person.
