### sec.23 What orders can a court make to prevent domestic violence
A court can make a domestic violence order against a respondent for the benefit of an aggrieved.
A domestic violence order means—
a protection order; or
a temporary protection order.
A temporary protection order is an order made in the period before a court decides whether to make a protection order for the benefit of an aggrieved.
Sometimes, the court can make a domestic violence order even though the person against whom the order is made—
is not notified about an application for a domestic violence order; or
does not appear in court.
(sec.23-ssec.1) A court can make a domestic violence order against a respondent for the benefit of an aggrieved.
(sec.23-ssec.2) A domestic violence order means— a protection order; or a temporary protection order.
(sec.23-ssec.3) A temporary protection order is an order made in the period before a court decides whether to make a protection order for the benefit of an aggrieved.
(sec.23-ssec.4) Sometimes, the court can make a domestic violence order even though the person against whom the order is made— is not notified about an application for a domestic violence order; or does not appear in court.
- (a) a protection order; or
- (b) a temporary protection order.
- (a) is not notified about an application for a domestic violence order; or
- (b) does not appear in court.
