### sec.231A Duration of chief executive officer’s appointment
The chief executive officer holds office for the term, not longer than 5 years, stated in the officer’s instrument of appointment.
A person holding office as the chief executive officer may be reappointed to the office for a further term or terms as long as—
no term of appointment is longer than 5 years; and
the person does not hold office for more than 10 years in total.
Subsection (2) (b) has effect despite the Acts Interpretation Act 1954 , section 25 (1) (c) .
Section 228 applies to the appointment of the chief executive officer for a further term under this section.

(sec.231A-ssec.1) The chief executive officer holds office for the term, not longer than 5 years, stated in the officer’s instrument of appointment.
(sec.231A-ssec.2) A person holding office as the chief executive officer may be reappointed to the office for a further term or terms as long as— no term of appointment is longer than 5 years; and the person does not hold office for more than 10 years in total.
(sec.231A-ssec.3) Subsection (2) (b) has effect despite the Acts Interpretation Act 1954 , section 25 (1) (c) .
(sec.231A-ssec.4) Section 228 applies to the appointment of the chief executive officer for a further term under this section.
- (a) no term of appointment is longer than 5 years; and
- (b) the person does not hold office for more than 10 years in total.
