### sec.144 What approval must state
An approval for a controlled operation must be written and state the following—
a description of the suspected corruption offence to which the controlled operation relates;
the period, of not more than 6 months, for which the approval has effect;
the name of each covert operative who may engage in otherwise unlawful activities for the purposes of the operation;
a precise description of each otherwise unlawful activity a person who is not a commission officer may engage in while acting as a covert operative for the operation;
a description of the general classes of otherwise unlawful activities a commission officer may be required to engage in while acting as a covert operative for the operation;
any conditions the approving officer considers appropriate.
For subsection (1) (c) , it is enough to state an assumed name or code name in the approval if the actual identity of the covert operative is included in a register kept for the purpose by the chairperson.

- (a) a description of the suspected corruption offence to which the controlled operation relates;
- (b) the period, of not more than 6 months, for which the approval has effect;
- (c) the name of each covert operative who may engage in otherwise unlawful activities for the purposes of the operation;
- (d) a precise description of each otherwise unlawful activity a person who is not a commission officer may engage in while acting as a covert operative for the operation;
- (e) a description of the general classes of otherwise unlawful activities a commission officer may be required to engage in while acting as a covert operative for the operation;
- (f) any conditions the approving officer considers appropriate.
