### sec.319L No property or interest in causes of action
This section applies if a protected defendant commits a civil wrong against a person while the person is an offender.
The person may bring a proceeding in a court in relation to the civil wrong.
However, the person has no property or interest in—
a cause of action for the civil wrong; or
any relevant money awarded in a proceeding mentioned in subsection (2) .
If, in the proceeding, the person establishes the liability of the protected defendant for the civil wrong, the court—
may order the protected defendant to pay damages for harm or injury suffered by the person because of the civil wrong; and
must order that the damages be dealt with under this part.
The Civil Liability Act 2003 and the Personal Injuries Proceedings Act 2002 apply to the proceeding.

(sec.319L-ssec.1) This section applies if a protected defendant commits a civil wrong against a person while the person is an offender.
(sec.319L-ssec.2) The person may bring a proceeding in a court in relation to the civil wrong.
(sec.319L-ssec.3) However, the person has no property or interest in— a cause of action for the civil wrong; or any relevant money awarded in a proceeding mentioned in subsection (2) .
