### sec.229 Preservation of rights
This section applies if—
a person is appointed as a prescribed board member; and
the person resigns the person’s role as a public service officer in order to accept the appointment.
The person keeps all rights that have accrued to the person as a public service officer, or that would accrue in the future to the person because of that employment, as if service as a prescribed board member were a continuation of service as a public service officer.
At the end of the person’s term of office or on resignation as a prescribed board member—
the person has the right to be appointed to an office in the public service on the same terms and conditions that applied to the person before being appointed as a prescribed board member; and
the person’s service as a prescribed board member is taken to be service of a like nature in the public service for deciding the person’s rights as a public service officer.
