167 Disciplinary breach admitted by accused
(1) An accused may elect to have a disciplinary charge against the
detainee dealt with under this division by giving a presiding officer a
written notice in which the accused—
(a) admits the disciplinary breach charged; and
(b) accepts the proposed disciplinary action stated in the charge
notice.

(2) The election must be given to the presiding officer—
(a) no later than the day after the day the presiding officer gives the
accused the charge notice; or
(b) within any extended period allowed under subsection (3).
(3) For subsection (2) (b), the presiding officer may extend the period
within which the election must be made if the presiding officer
believes, on reasonable grounds, that is appropriate.
Note An extension of the time for making an election may be given even
though the relevant time has ended (see Legislation Act, s 151C (Power
to extend time)).
(4) The presiding officer must give the accused written notice of a
decision under subsection (3).
