### sec.197 Battery-powered vehicles
An underground mine’s safety and health management system must provide for selecting, constructing, installing and maintaining battery-powered vehicles used at the mine.
The site senior executive for the mine must ensure a non-explosion-protected battery-powered vehicle is used—
only in a NERZ; and
only if the vehicle’s access into an ERZ0 or ERZ1 is prevented by a system that is either fail safe or includes multiple redundancy devices.
(sec.197-ssec.1) An underground mine’s safety and health management system must provide for selecting, constructing, installing and maintaining battery-powered vehicles used at the mine.
(sec.197-ssec.2) The site senior executive for the mine must ensure a non-explosion-protected battery-powered vehicle is used— only in a NERZ; and only if the vehicle’s access into an ERZ0 or ERZ1 is prevented by a system that is either fail safe or includes multiple redundancy devices.
