### sec.53 Inspector may require name and address An inspector who— finds a person committing, or finds a person that the inspector reasonably suspects of having committed, an offence against this Act; or is making inquiries or investigations with a view to establishing whether or not an offence against this Act has been committed by a person; or reasonably believes that the name and address of a person is required for the purpose of— giving effect to a provision of this Act; or enabling the inspector to carry out the inspector’s functions under this Act; may require the person to state the person’s name and address and, if the inspector has reasonable grounds to believe that the name or address given is false, may require evidence of its correctness. A person who is required under subsection (1) to state the person’s name or address must not— fail to comply with the requirement; or state a false name or address. Maximum penalty—50 penalty units. A person who is required under subsection (1) to give evidence of the correctness of a name or address must not fail to give the evidence or give false evidence. Maximum penalty—50 penalty units.
