### sec.203 Restrictions on altering, defacing or destroying approved device
A person must not alter or deface an approved device or allow an approved device to be altered or defaced, unless—
the alteration or defacing happens because of the removal of the device from a special designated animal; and
the removal is permitted or required under this Act.
Maximum penalty—200 penalty units.
A person must not destroy an approved device, or allow an approved device to be destroyed, unless—
the destruction happens because of the removal of the device from a special designated animal and the removal is permitted or required under this Act; or
the destruction—
happens before the device is fitted to any special designated animal; or
is otherwise permitted or required under this Act.
Maximum penalty—200 penalty units.
A person does not commit an offence against subsection (1) if the person has a reasonable excuse for performing or allowing the alteration or defacement.
In this section—
alter , an approved device, includes, for an approved device that is in the form of an electronic tag, doing anything that causes the device to malfunction.
