Background: Originally passed in 1975 to replace the Australian Film Development Corporation, the Act has been amended several times to transfer functions and assets. Notably, in 2003 it absorbed ScreenSound Australia (the national screen and sound archive), and earlier transferred some production functions to Film Australia Pty Limited.
